What an epic last week we’ve had in Noosa. Surfing, singing, dancing, laughing, a LOT of laughing, throttle wrangling and now we are pleased to add shaping to that jam packed list.
Yesterday we gave the salt water a rest and took the afternoon to head to our friend Thomas Bexons workshop to shape a few boards coming to a brand new surfboard collection, from us - to you.
Only a couple of nights before Thomas hosted the notorious Surf Festival Opening Party, and it was refreshing to see the workshop in operating order – opposed to the 500 strong crew dancing to the tune of local live bands. Now although that party was seriously fun, and I have about 300 stories that came from it, todays blog is about the shaping baes we affectionately nickname Jared Mell & Tom Morat.
If you’ve been following our socials channels over the last week then you should know we are giving away a Yamaha XT250 & Surf-A-Billy Surfboard as a promotion in Australia this month. If you don’t know that, then download instagram, follow Deus Customs and stop missing out one one of life’s greatest gifts. Spend $30 in store or online and sign up to our mailing list for your chance to win.
Here are a few flicks of Jared making the exact board that you could win. Brand, spanking new, straight from the Californian kid. It’s a board really designed for anyone to ride, a 6’10, mid length board that can do a bit of everything.
Originally from Newport, Jared made a name for himself in the water every day at Blackies. It takes one look at BangBangBoogie in the water to establish him as the master of style. Laidback, cruising, soul arch and sometimes completely unpredictable & cheeky. Jared takes an artistic approach, relaxed, fun, fun to watch – and it’s that same energy you can find in his Surf-A-Billy surfboards.
Then there is Tom. Growing up on performance boards in New Caladonia left him an ambidextrous tube hound, and a move to Noosa left him a nose riding fiend. Since his time in Noosa he has spent countless hours under Docs tutelage and let us tell you the grommet knows his stuff.
Stay tuned for more news on the Deus Surfboard range coming to shelves soon. There’s been a serious amount of work thats gone in and the team at Deus are absolutely thrilled with the results so far.
